FEATURED IN TECHNOLOGY AND COMMUNICATIONS
As Christmas draws ever nearer, many LEOs and their families turn their attention to high-tech toys, and this year's Apple lineup is more impressive than ever.
Apple has put together some very attractive discounts on their hottest products for those who serve at the city, state and federal level, and some of the deals are quite attractive.
Apple's military and government purchase program applies to personal purchases by current and retired employees, contractors and family members of government entities, and current, former, and retired members and family members of the US Military, National Guard and Reserve.
I just saved about $250 on the purchase of a consumer-grade MacBook Pro and Apple Care package for my wife, and if I go for that high-end offering, the savings are even higher.

A new offer from Apple also helps out the less technically savvy, who want to get an Apple product but don't want to try setting it up themselves at home. With Apple Personal Pickup (select it as you check out with your purchases) you can buy it online but pick it up in an Apple retail store - and have Apple employees provide free setup and basic orientation training. It's a great way, too, to ensure that if anything is not working when it arrives, you've got documentation and assistance in getting it replaced or repaired.
The Personal Pickup program is explained at http://store.apple.com/us_epp_67909/browse/home/personal_pickup
