Law enforcement trainers serve a critical role in making sure officers have the skills they need to be effective and safe. But this vital role is often overlooked within individual police departments and policing as a whole.

Each year, Law Officer recognizes a trainer who has demonstrated outstanding skills and made lasting contributions to the law enforcement profession through its Trainer of the Year Award. This award is open to active law enforcement trainers. Nominations must be submitted by someone with direct knowledge of the nominee s skills and abilities. Nominees will be judged on their:

  • Training ability;
