A Second Look

Cold cases get a new life with Donna Brant's new blog series

Dale Stockton | Wednesday, November 3, 2010

Cops and citizens get a lot of satisfaction out of catching crooks who have evaded the law. That’s why the show America’s Most Wanted actually works – over 1,000 of the worst offenders have been captured after being featured on AMW.

A good friend of mine, Donna Brant, spent nearly 20 years as a producer at AMW; we met when she produced a segment that resulted in the capture of a home-invasion rapist that I'd been unable to run down. I have a great deal of respect for her commitment and abilities. Trust me: She's not a typical journalist. She’s a committed crime-fighter who's helped capture more violent felons than most police officers.

I'm very proud that Donna Brant has started a blog on Law Officer Connect, where she'll be addressing cold cases and asking for assistance in resolving them. These are real cases that police departments have essentially given up on. The first one involves the murder of six young girls and a suspect that came to be known as “The Freeway Phantom.”

Take a read. I think you’ll be hooked. And if someone knows something, let’s roll and get this guy! Check out Chasing a Phantom.
