Sergeant Killed in Vehicle Crash

Sergeant Dario Aponte of the New Haven (Conn.) Police Department was killed in a motor vehicle accident while responding to a domestic violence call. While driving to the scene, he collided with another patrol car en route to the same call. Aponte was killed and the officer driving the other vehicle was critically injured.

Aponte served with the department for 17 years. He's survived by his wife and four children. His wife also serves as an officer with the agency.
