D.C. Metro on Alert after Russia Subway Bombings

Sunday, March 28, 2010

WASHINGTON - Metro police are conducting random inspections of stations and rail yards as part of heightened security after a terrorist attack on two Moscow subway stations killed more than 37 people.

Metro Transit Police's acting head, Jeri Lee, said Monday that the agency will "do what we can to be as secure as possible."

Metro had previously planned a drill Monday simulating a bus explosion in the parking lot of RFK Stadium. The drill, which had been planned since December, will continue. This past weekend Metro had an overnight drill that simulated a below-ground train explosion.
