GRAYSON, Ga. (AP) — A Gwinnett County police officer is recovering from a head on crash with a driver who fell asleep behind the wheel.
CBS Atlanta (http://bit.ly/11b91qs ) reports the accident happened around 5 a.m. Friday.
Hayden McCall, a Gwinnett County police officer, was stopped in a left turn lane when 50-year-old James Snyder crossed the center line and rand into a median.
Snyder hit a sign before crashing into the patrol car.
Snyder and McCall were both hospitalized at the Gwinnett Medical Center with minor injuries.
Snyder was cited for failing to maintain lane and driving on the wrong side of the road.
Authorities say alcohol and speed were not factors in the accident.
