VADO, N.M. -- Officer Robert Potter suffered a major heart attack while working a tractor-trailer crash scene on Interstate 10, according to ODMP. He collapsed while providing aid, and was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces. He underwent surgery and later died at the hospital.
Officer Potter was a military veteran and is survived by his wife and son.
