POTTSTOWN, Pa. -- CODY Systems, a 30-year veteran of the Public Safety Software market, providing integrated, user-friendly and results-driven software to nation-wide public safety, law enforcement and intelligence agencies of all sizes and tiers, recently announced the eight-county South Central Pennsylvania Task Force (SCPTF) has selected CODY Systems’ C.O.B.R.A. real-time information-sharing platform to share information efficiently and securely across jurisdictions, regardless of the records management system (RMS) vendor that each agency uses. The project will initially encompass a number of key agencies across the region, providing officers of those agencies with real-time, actionable information on individuals, vehicles, incidents and more from across all of their RMS databases, at both the desktop level and to officers in the field at the edge of the network. The project is expected to expand to cover police departments across the entire eight-county region.
Instant field and in-house access to real-time RMS information across agencies, including pictures, has become a driving force in the fight against crime and constant effort to enhance homeland security and officer/citizen safety in the field. Criminals increasingly know no borders, and having even the smallest shred of the right information, at the right time, at the right place can be the difference between closing a case, safeguarding a life, or missing a chance to capture a known offender.
C.O.B.R.A. arms law enforcement agents with such information, regardless of the source, RMS vendor, or physical location, providing one-stop search results in the field (and at the desktop) from across any/all connected agency RMS databases, as well as other data sources and search engines, including the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). With one simple search, a C.O.B.R.A. user can search every connected agency’s RMS data and beyond. The system uses CODY’s ExpressBridge technology, which is specifically designed to work with whatever RMS vendor systems are in place across a region.
The South Central Pennsylvania Task Force, located in the heart of the Commonwealth, covers 5,200 square miles, including the state’s capital region, and serves the counties of Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry and York. The SCPTF will partner with CODY to implement this critical information-sharing network to safeguard the capital region, protect the region’s nuclear energy facilities and other high-value targets, and more effectively fight crime across the region by putting actionable region-wide information in the hands of First Preventers.
“Having the ability to serve such a vast area of public safety officials is an honor for all of us at CODY Systems,” said Fran Heffner, chief executive officer of CODY Systems. “There has always been a wonderful relationship between these parties and we’ve worked with them in lockstep every step of the way to bring this project to fruition. C.O.B.R.A.’s ability to allow the region’s investigators and police officers in the field to search all the region’s RMS data sources with one simple search will put the Task Force ahead of the criminals in that area and will also provide the officers who use it with more peace of mind knowing they will have information at their fingertips alerting them to potential danger, even during the most seemingly innocent traffic stop.”
