A LawOfficer.com exclusive: Brian McKenna’s Officer Down column has been a classic for more than 20 years now. McKenna, a 32-year police veteran and police trainer, carefully researches each case and puts it in words as only he can.

Jan Zacharias, Law Officer production coordinator, does so much, it’s hard to believe she still has time to blog, visit police museums and read books about law enforcement—for fun! Bottom line: She’s passionate about this audience, and she loves Brian McKenna’s column and book, Officer Down! Lessons from the Streets (available at www.WinningEdgeTraining.com).

For the past several months, Jan and Brian have worked together to animate the illustrations Brian creates to accompany his column. These are narrated representations of what actually happened when officers went down in the field. Talk about an opportunity to learn from someone else’s experience.

Training resources this good—for free—happen because people like Jan and Brian want you not just to survive, but to win.
