Warwick Mills, Inc., makers of the patented TurtleSkin fabric, announced the addition of two new gloves. The gloves are an addition to the existing line of TurtleSkin Law Enforcement Gloves that the company offers (TurtleSkin LE Gloves).
Both new gloves were designed with an overall vision to represent the best balance of two factors: protection and comfort. TurtleSkin LE Protective Equipment spokesperson, John Cronin, said that after conducting many interviews with police and corrections officers, there was a clear need for a glove that was both puncture- and cut- resistant while also providing a snug, comfortable fit (allowing for dexterity and sensitivity).
“The hands of law enforcement and corrections professionals are at risk from cuts and needlesticks on a daily, if not hourly, basis. They need a glove that protects against these threats, yet provides a high level of dexterity and tactile sensitivity. The new TurtleSkin Alpha and Bravo Gloves deliver this dual-functionality better than any glove ever has.” said Cronin. “In addition, the gloves have been designed with unique features that address specific-use environments.”
The Alpha glove has a high level of slash resistance on the back of the hand. “This feature is important for many duties, but the thing that was really top-of-mind during the development effort was sliding meal trays through cell doors in a corrections environment. We’ve spoken to a number of corrections officers that have had colleagues suffer tendon damage after being slashed with razors on the back of the hand. ” Cronin said. “While this glove was designed with corrections officers in mind, we know patrol will love the snug fit and superior protection.”
The Bravo glove is designed with a mesh knit that provides more “breathability” without sacrificing protection, durability or style. “Over the years we’ve had a lot of requests for a lightweight protective glove that provides a high degree of breathability. We were thinking of officers working down south when we designed this glove, but we’re sure they’ll provide outstanding protection and comfort during the warmer months up north as well.” continued Cronin.
