Brad Smith

Brad Smith

Cpl. Brad Smith began his law enforcement career in 1981. He was a canine handler and trainer for the West Covina (Calif.) PD for 25 years and a SWAT dog handler for 18 years. Retired in 2010, Smith is canine chairperson for NTOA and subject matter expert for the California Association of Tactical Officers (CATO). Smith is a graduate of the POST Master Instructor Development Program (Class 5) and is qualified to evaluate and certify any police dog in the State of California and Utah. For his master instructor project, Corporal Smith designed and implemented the first and only POST-certified K-9 SWAT school in California. Smith is the owner of Canine Tactical Operations and Consulting (www. K-9TacOps.com), providing expert witness opinions for departments and K-9 handlers in civil and criminal cases.
