What Are You Laughing At?

The benefits of humor cannot be underestimated. Serving as a welcomed release to the unpleasant, seamy side of life that the demanding nature of the job entails, a smile, a hearty laugh, and the ability to share some joy are integral to long-term survival in law enforcement and direct public service. Not only is the ability to laugh with others indispensible but equally as important is the ability to be able to laugh at oneself. Humor can ease daily stressors, brighten a spirit, and provide an emotional lift to those who deal with the bad and the ugly on a daily basis.
