This is a week-long multidisciplinary course for law enforcement investigators, prosecutors, and CPS workers, co-sponsored by the WA State CJTC and DSHS Children’s Administration. The curriculum is developed and delivered by Harborview’s Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress together with WSCJTC staff. The focus is on improving investigative skills in child sexual abuse and physical abuse cases, with emphasis on the investigative interview with the child. It is designed to meet the training required by RCW 43.101.224. A separate criminal justice track on Day 5 addresses other aspects of the investigation, in addition to the child interview, including electronic surveillance techniques, scene searches, and suspect interrogation techniques.
