Tulsa Courthouse Shooting

Tulsa City-County Library employee captures moments when gunman confronts sheriff’s deputies.

Thursday, March 8, 2012

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Investigators were trying to determine Thursday what led a 23-year-old man to pull a handgun in a downtown Tulsa plaza and begin firing in the air, sending people fleeing for cover and leading to a clash in which he, a sheriff's deputy and a bystander were shot and wounded.

Some of those sent scurrying from the plaza between the Tulsa County Courthouse and the library Tuesday afternoon found cover inside and watched the drama unfold. After a burst of gunfire, the young man lay wounded, bleeding from his upper body onto the patchwork of concrete tiles. A sheriff's deputy and a bystander suffered nonlife-threatening injuries.
