FIST,INC. the maker of the only defensive tactics training suit capable of withstanding full power baton blows, has recently formed its International Training Division. The purpose of the new division will be to offer training in the proper use of the various FIST Suits and options within a defensive tactics curriculum. "Everyone knows that the courts are mandating realistic training for police officers" says Jim Murnak, Fist's President, "and our suits are really the only way for officers to get realistic training in defensive tactics. But we get inquiries all the time about how to use the suit properly, and how to integrate its use into a DT curriculum. With the ITD, we can now show departments what the most innovative agencies in the world are doing with our suit in developing realistic training." The basic course offered by the FIST ITD is the FIST Instructor Certification Course (FICC). This two day course, which results in a FIST Instructor Certification, covers the proper use of the FIST Suit so as to avoid injuries, the integration of full-power practice into a DT curriculum, and the selection of scenarios that can best benefit from full-power/FIST Suit practice. Scenarios to be covered in the FICC include common assaults, arrest/control problems, weapon retention, cell extraction, and dynamic entry. Other courses include a Patrol Officers Defensive Tactics Course, and a Dynamic Counter-Measures Course.
