Law Officer Volume 4 Issue 2 Law Officer strongly believes in recognizing and encouraging those doing good deeds. We’re honored to announce that our publisher’s parent company, Reed Elsevier, has committed to provide approximately $6,000 in scholarship funding for Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc. (COPS). COPS is a nationwide, non-profit organization providing resources to assist in rebuilding the lives of surviving families of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. The scholarships will go to surviving children and spouses of fallen law enforcement officers.
When told of the donation, Suzie Sawyer, national director for COPs said, “This is absolutely awesome. We really need scholarship money. Thank you
so much.”
COPS conducts seven Traumas of Law Enforcement training sessions every year from Jan.–March. These three-day events include a total of
21 hours of training. The remaining cities COPS will travel to in
2008 include
• Feb. 27–29, Tallahassee, Fla.
• March 5–7, Syracuse, N.Y.
• March 17–19, Oklahoma City, Okla.
