A certain amount of sensory overload is expected when you’re in Las Vegas. But it’s off the charts during the SHOT Show, the world’s largest trade show and conference dedicated to firearms, ammo, optics and related products. Everyone from vendors to buyers to professionals to enthusiasts is here.
The law enforcement section of the show remains the fastest-growing segment. Nine years ago, it covered 7,000 square feet of the exhibit hall. Today, during the show’s 33rd year, it covers more than 150,000 of the 700,000-square-foot conference in the Sands Expo & Convention Center.
Among the many products unveiled, Magnum showed off its MultiCam boots and Tru-Spec introduced its Tru Xtreme uniform pants, shirt, combat shirt and vest.
But it’s not only about products. For second consecutive year, Law Officer partnered with the National Shooting Sports Foundation to bring world-class educational seminars to the SHOT Show.
Firearms expert and Law Officer 2010 Trainer of the Year Dave Spaulding trained 200 LEOs on enhanced tactical pistol skills and the importance of developing the combative mind. Dave Young taught a class on gross motor skills vs. fine motor skills in relation to draw ability. Bob Hindi explained the Hindi Duty Belt S.A.F.E.T.Y. System and representatives from Meggitt told officers how they can effectively implement a live-fire training facility.
Law Officer Editor-in-Chief Dale Stockton and Police Chief Scot Haug of Post Falls (Idaho) PD provided training on how to change the culture in your agency and ultimately reduce line-of-duty deaths. For more about the Below 100 initiative, click here.
Law Officer also hosted a networking lunch where officers from around the country met, mingled and shared stories.
Safariland recognized three members of its Saves Club, which honors police officers who have been saved in the line of duty while wearing one of Safariland’s life-saving products. Law Officer presented Safariland with the 2011 Gold Badge of Serivce Award for its commitment and service to the public safety community.
