It didn’t take long for a flurry of emails and Facebook posts to arrive with requests for help. Officers needed everything from uniforms to body armor to just continue to do their job while their homes had been destroyed and families displaced.
Law Officer was instrumental in raising funds and sending much needed equipment to countless officers and the generosity rubbed off. A few weeks after the disaster, Denver (Colo.) Police Chief Gerald Whitman discovered a need for equipment in the Hackleburg (Ala.) Police Department. He sent a trailer full of new uniforms, flashlights, boots and leather gear to the storm ravaged area and permitted a Denver police officer to take the equipment to the area.
Englewood (Colo.) Police Chief John Collins followed suit and many of our Alabama brothers and sisters were helped as a result. Englewood Officer Jason Pearson helped coordinate the efforts along with Ten-Four Ministries and a recent letter they received along with a $100 check said it all. It simply read, “From one officer to another.”
