BREAUX BRIDGE, La. (AP) — A Breaux Bridge police officer shot and killed a 17-year-old girl who crashed her vehicle head-on into a police car Sunday night, State police say.
The Advocate reports (http://bit.ly/TC5SgM ) police were responding to a disturbance about 7:40 p.m. when a car driven by Darnesha Harris, 17, of Breaux Bridge struck the front of a police car.
State police said Harris then put the car in reverse and struck a parked car before driving forward again, striking a bystander and another parked car.
It was unclear whether Harris' car was still moving when an officer fired on her or how many shots were fired, said Trooper Stephen Hammons.
Hammons said investigators also have not determined whether Harris was involved in the initial disturbance that prompted the police to go to the site on Landry Street.
State police did not identify the officer involved in the shooting.
Breaux Bridge police did not immediately respond to requests for information.
